Water-Cooled Alternator Warranty

Warranty Period

House of Hoon warrants its Water-Cooled Alternator Kits to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of 12 months from the date the customer receives the product.

If a manufacturing defect occurs during the warranty period, House of Hoon will, at its discretion, repair or replace the defective product or component, or provide another appropriate remedy.

This warranty is limited to the repair or replacement of the House of Hoon product itself and does not cover labour, installation, removal, refitting or any associated costs.

This warranty applies to the original purchaser only.

What This Warranty Covers

This warranty covers manufacturing defects and faults resulting from defective materials or workmanship when the product has been correctly installed, maintained and used under normal operating conditions.

If you believe your product has developed a fault, please contact House of Hoon before attempting any repairs or modifications.

To help us assess your claim, we may request:

  • Proof of purchase
  • Your order number
  • A description of the issue
  • Photos and/or videos of the installation and affected parts
  • Any additional information required to assist with diagnosis

Installation Requirements

To ensure reliable operation and maintain warranty coverage, the installer is responsible for ensuring that:

  • The alternator is installed in accordance with the supplied installation instructions.
  • The engine cooling system is correctly filled and completely bled before operating the engine.
  • Coolant is circulating correctly through the alternator at all times.
  • An appropriately sized charge cable is installed for the alternator's output.
  • All electrical connections are clean, tight and making proper contact.
  • Battery terminals are clean, secure and free from corrosion.
  • Belt alignment and belt tension are checked after installation.
  • The charging system is operating correctly before placing the vehicle into service.

Failure to meet these installation requirements may result in product damage that is not covered by this warranty.

Maintenance Requirements

Like any automotive component, your alternator requires basic maintenance to maximise its service life.

Where the vehicle has been operated in harsh environments, including mud, sand, salt water, beach driving or other corrosive conditions, the alternator should be thoroughly rinsed and cleaned as soon as practical after use.

Failure to adequately maintain the alternator may result in corrosion or premature wear, which is not covered under this warranty.

The engine cooling system should also be maintained in accordance with the vehicle manufacturer's recommendations, including the use of the correct coolant type and concentration.

What Is Not Covered

This warranty does not cover damage, failures or defects resulting from:

  • Incorrect installation.
  • Failure to correctly bleed the engine cooling system after installation.
  • Operating the alternator without coolant circulating through the system.
  • Running an undersized or otherwise inappropriate charge cable for the application.
  • Loose, dirty, corroded or poorly connected battery terminals or electrical connections.
  • Incorrect wiring or reverse polarity.
  • Modification, machining, welding or alteration of any supplied House of Hoon components.
  • Engine overheating, coolant loss or operating the engine after it has overheated or boiled.
  • Use of incorrect, contaminated or poorly maintained engine coolant.
  • Faults within the vehicle's existing electrical system, including defective batteries, short circuits, faulty voltage-sensitive equipment or other pre-existing electrical faults.
  • Corrosion resulting from inadequate cleaning or maintenance after exposure to mud, sand, salt water or other harsh environmental conditions.
  • Vehicle accidents, impacts or external damage.
  • Misuse, neglect or abuse.
  • Normal wear and tear.

Damage resulting from any of the above conditions is not covered under this warranty.

Australian Consumer Law

Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.

You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

This warranty is provided in addition to, and does not limit, your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

Warranty Philosophy

We designed these alternators to survive the harsh conditions that regularly destroy conventional air-cooled alternators. Our goal is to build products that last, not products that come back under warranty.

If you experience an issue, please contact us before attempting repairs or modifications. We'll work with you to diagnose the problem and get you back on the road as quickly as possible.
